…while you and several of your friends have sex with her.
Beer commercials have started to swing towards the rapantly sexist lately, but this is the worst I’ve seen so far.
And there I run out of words.
Correction: Diageo has confirmed that Guinness didn’t make the ad, which was in fact made by some guy with his own money, and for no apparent purpose. See comments below for Guinness’ response to a letter from one of our bloggers.

I need to rage directly at Guiness. Anyone have an address? Phone number?

FTW?!
Here's another reason why I refuse to drink beer.
I'm appalled that people responded to the vid on YouTube with comments like, "sick! ...but nice :D
keep them coming guys!", "Haha, very good.", and (get ready for this) "it's kind of offensive. I secretly like it."

That's totally shitty- she doesn't move, implying she's passed out and being gang banged. Good job, Guinness, you suck.

Anyone have a number...to call and complain?

I've been deeply disturbed by this all day, and it now appear that the authenticity of the ad is in question: http://commercial-archive.com/node/14...

It's funny, because when I watched the vid I wondered if it was real. Because there's been a lot of average people hijacking commericals and remixing or creating original ads for products that have no affiliation to make outrageous stuff.
Even if Guiness and Dageo have nothing to do with it, it still stands that 1) the vid is disgusting, 2) it's still up on YouTube, 3) someone thought it would be funny to make, 4) commenters think it's funny, and 5) too many (genuine) sexist and misogynistic beer commercials continue to exist.

...and a woman agreed to act in it. That might be the sickest part of all.

Well, I'm relieved that it doesn't appear to be an offical, Guinness-sponsored commercial, because
A)I like drinking Guinness, and
B)I find it far preferable to think of it being the work of someone aiming to stir up the shit than that a major company would consider it an appropriate way to increase sales.

*phew*
Still, I'm disturbed that this was a totally passable beer ad. It clearly crosses the line, but that grey zone keeps getting bigger and bigger...

I didn't get to see this because it said the video was no longer available.
Did anyone kick up a fuss?
I'm pretty sure this was horrible, I could tell just by looking at the freeze-frame.

Wow, it's not even a real ad. Some guy spent $320 of his own money making this video, just cuz. And people say *we* have too much time on our hands...
It looks like YouTube has taken it down. There's probably another version floating around somewhere though, if anyone's really dying to see it.

I don't know about fuss, but I wrote Guiness to ask about it and sent them the link. Would be totally sweet if that worked. (They didn't write me back.)

Recently I saw a billboard ad for whiskey that said, "If you wax your chest, you don't deserve to have hair on it" or something like that.
Booze and hetero-normative masculinity always seem to go hand in hand when it comes to advertising.

Dear Erin,
Thank you for contacting us with your concerns over the ‘Guiness (sic) Good Times’ video on YouTube. (Yes, I keep spelling it incorrectly.)
Please be assured that Guinness is in no way associated with this video, and approached YouTube to have it removed. We are proud of our brands, and our commitment to responsible marketing, and this is not how we want our brand portrayed.
We made this clear in a statement on the video’s site as soon as it was drawn to our attention, the producer of the video also made it clear that the material was not associated with Guinness, and the original video has now been removed from YouTube.
For further information, check out our marketing code at http://www.diageo.com/, and thank you again for raising your concerns with us.
Yours sincerely,
Aoife Devine
